Skift Forum Europe: Airbnb Is Doubling Down on Experiences
In an interview with Joe Zadeh (VP of Experiences) he shares that there are now 30,000 experiences in over 1,000 cities, up from 1,000 experiences in 12 cities when the service was started in November 2016.
The Airbnb Invasion of Barcelona
Barcelona receives over 9 million visitors a year, which puts the city in the top 10 of cities with the most visitors per capita. This creates friction in the most popular neighbourhoods. Airbnb is used as a scape goat, even though only about 15% of visitors stay at an Airbnb.
Airbnb Leads $160 Million Investment Into Hospitality Startup Lyric
Airbnb leads a 160 million investment in Lyric, the sister company of Wheelhouse. You can listen to an interview with the CEO, Andrew Kitchell, who I interviewed in episode 71.
Airbnb improves security deposit feature
Airbnb finally improved the security deposit functionality. They will now authorise the guest´s credit card 48 hours before check-in. If they are unable to do so, the host can cancel the reservation.
